About the workshop;

In the beautiful setting of historical Amersfoort -The Netherlands you will find the first cotton printing workshop in the Netherlands, now turned into a workshop space, Airbnb,  and a small museum.

We will have three days of learning all about traditional natural dyes and mordant pastes.

  • You will learn how to correctly prepare your fabrics and mordant them.
  • You will learn how to create vibrant colors with weld, cochineal, madder, and indigo.
  • I will teach you how to work systemically and how to make sure you have the same results over and over again.
  • You will learn how to make a mordant paste and create patterns that we will then dye in natural dyes.
  • You will create a color card with recipes to recreate at home.

Most importantly: in my workshops, we create powerful safe circles to interchange knowledge and our passion for natural dyes. Friendships are formed and our groups stay in touch long after we finish our workshop.

      What a joy! A wonderful and pleasant way to learn new skills of natural dying

      Usually I follow video's on the internet to learn new skills. But this workshop has changed my vision on this. It was such a pleasure to follow Suzanne's teaching and watch her sharing her knowledge and skills during these three days. She patiently took the group through every step of dying with different plant sources and with that we created our own wide variety of colours on different types of materials. The third day she took us a step further with mordant pastes. It was such a joy to do.

      Natural dyeing in Amersfoort

      As I had no prior experience, I wasn't quite sure what to expect, and I had a great time! Suzanne has a wealth of knowledge and experience and she enthousiastically conveys the joy in creating different colours in different fabrics. The science behind it is clearly explained and the results are amazing. The group of people was diverse and the atmosphere was relaxed. The location and city are wonderful. I had a great time, and I'm inspired to give the dyeing at home a serious try :-).

      The fabulous world of natural color, thought with love.

      I joined Suzanne's workshop in Amersfoort. She is a lovely teacher who loves to share her knowledge, but more importantly also shares her joy and fun in dyeing with all things from nature. I've been to a lot of workshops, but it is rare to find a real teacher who can explain the why and how and doesn't mind sharing her tips and tricks. I am so glad I found this workshop in the beautiful Volmolen in Amersfoort.

      Registration for Natural Dyeing in the Netherlands

      Registration for the course was very easy and notification of enough participants for the course came very quickly so I could make reservations for lodging early. When I had questions regarding transfer of money they were promptly answered. Looking forward to coming to the Netherlands for the course.
