Active dye component; ellagic tannins and granatonine.
Works well with both protein and cellulose textiles.
Pomegranate rinds contain about 18% tannin and improves the light and washfastness of any dye with which it is mixed. In India and south east Asia it is used as both a dye and a mordant.
Post mordant with iron for warm cement grays and deep moss greens. Copper will give a deep golden hue to pomegranate natural dye. It is often mixed with the more fugitive turmeric dye to brighten the yellow and make it lightfast.
Soak powder for at least one hour, heat to below a boil for about an hour together with (mordanted) well wetted textiles. Let cool in the dye pot.
-Securely packed in a re-sealable zip bag for easy use and storage
- Pomegranate natural dye powder is a renewable, sustainable source, Co2 footpint positive.
